Developer Portfolio

Skills I have or shall learn within 3 years of study in University.

Leadership
- Have been team leader for 2 board game projects: Apothecalypse, Sucks to be you! (yes it's a game name)

Balancing
- Checked out the balancing for card skills to make sure it doesn't break the balance.

Troubleshooting
- Assessed the problem based on feedback by players and by our own research and figured out a solution to it
Making unique mechanics based on something that already exists such as Alien Path where they made a match 3 game but with the goal being not to match them all but rather completing an alien by evolving it when you match 3 of the same element.
This image belongs to Appxplore and I am using this as nothing more than just a placeholder.

My solo works.

Angel with a Shotgun (yes it's a song reference)

A single player shoot em up game.
Play as an angel trapped in space having to fight off alien invaders before they reach your homeland.

Player
Max health is ten and is displayed on the top left.
Ammo of current weapon is displayed beside character.
Has 3 guns each with different capabilities
Has a melee weapon when ammo runs out.

Ammo drop
The meteorite works as an obstacle that drops ammo if you shoot it down.

Boss Attack pattern
Boss shoots bullets that follow you along and destroys itself after a 5 seconds.

Gun
Yellow gun works like a normal gun with a shoot delay of 0.5 second. Red gun works like a shotgun spreading 3 bullets in three directions with a shoot delay of 1 second. Green works like machine gun with a shoot delay of 0.2 seconds. Melee is an option if you're ever out of ammo.

Escapade (WIP)

A single player platformer game where the player is stuck in steampunk factory trying to escape with limited oxygen with only a few pipes providing with oxygen.
Boss

Boss Room
Player
Locked door

Enemy
Oxygen pipe

Simplified documentation
Oxygen runs out from the player every 2 seconds, oxygen pipe refills this.
Enemy gets stunned for 3 seconds when stepped on.
Stops functioning when the player takes the gear from its back.
The gear will then open the locked door.
After going near the exit the boss will appear from the room and chase the player to the exit.

Changes made
Gun was cut out from the game as it doesn't fit the run away theme.
Player changed from having one life to having several oxygen bars that deplete over time.

My group works.

Apothecalypse:

Game rules:
A board game that utilizes alchemy to battle opponents.
Goal is to collect 20 fragments by defeating them in battle or by killing off 2 opponents.
Total players are 5 to 7.
Each player starts with 5 fragments.
Each person gets a unique character card randomly.
Player loses when they have no fragments left.

Game mechanics:
Battle by using herb and elemental cards.
Elemental cards can be synthesized by discarding 2 herb cards.
Elemental cards instantly win if fought with herbs unless a skill states otherwise.
Both herb and elemental cards have a skill that can be used but in return cannot be put into battle.
Player bets a certain amount of fragment and gains that amount against the player fought if the battle is won or loses if battle is lost.

Sucks to be you!

A board game where players have to kill off the vampire or be killed.

Game rules:-

Players:
- Has to split movespeed between 2 human tokens (may be biased and totally uneven) to avoid vampires from knowing who are the players.
- Can use shortcuts for 1 movespeed
- Can climb walls for 2 movespeed
- Can step on event tiles to obtain items to make weapons and get a scenario that may or may not help
- Controls their Lesser Vampire instead if killed.

Vampires:
- Walk through walls
- Controls Ghouls that attack players for a set damage with a set movespeed
- Turns killed players into Lesser Vampires (doesn't control Ghouls, have lesser stats)
- Turns killed bystander tokens (empty tokens that represent a human) into Ghouls
- Cannot use shortcuts
- Can only be hurt by wood or stake based weapons (this includes Lesser Vampires)
- Can step on event tiles to disable them for one turn

Ghouls:
- Has 3 movespeed and 1 attack
- Can use shortcuts like human tokens

Game Mechanics:
- Roll a dice to determine movespeed (minus Ghouls)
- Roll a dice to determine hit accuracy (1,2,3 = Hit. 4,5,6 = Miss) unless skill says otherwise.
- Vampire starts the game with 2 Ghouls
- End of each round, players may trade materials with others or build weapons.
- Each human token may only hold one weapon and may only have 3 materials in hand.

Updates:
Players now can spend 2 movespeed to climb walls in order to avoid getting stuck whenever a person or enemy blocks their path. Players now also have to spend 1 movespeed to go through shortcuts to make it less exploitable.
Scenarios were totally changed from having 3 different categories that conflict each other to scenarios that either help a player or enemy and only lasts for one round.
